Lillooet is likely the northernmost the club ventures in any of the monthly rides, and it has been 4 years since we’ve been there. It’s a long haul for the Oregon members, so a night with a northern member may help out on saddle time. The scenery and road on 1 through the Fraser River Canyon are great. The number of options for day rides in the area are fewer as not as many roads in the area in comparison to other area we frequent, but still great roads for riding. It’s hard to conceive when being there that in the 1860’s gold rush era that Lillooet was the largest city west of Chicago and north of San Francisco.
The campground is a privately owned and isn’t anything spectacular, right along the road, but still quiet at night. Flush toilet (I can’t pull up the picture of our esteemed vice president sitting in an outhouse with a flush toilet) and showers. We hope that in spite of the distances involved that people will consider it and guarantee that you won’t be disappointed by the riding opportunities.
