For the October meeting, we will be heading east... some of you will be heading north... and some of you will be heading south... and I guess if you're already east, you'll be heading west... You'll figure it out.
Anyway, we will be heading to Dennis' Riverside Retreat® for the October meeting. If you are planning on spending the evening, you can make arrangements with our fearless leader, Dennis. There's room in the front for a couple of small campers for all you nomads. Either way, contact your president to discuss. president@borderriders.com
Yes, there will be dinner.
Fun Fact: Chief Kamiakin—who led the Yakama, Palouse, and Klickitat in the Yakima War—was born at Ahtanum Creek near Tampico in 1800.
…and suddenly they realized, the gold at the end of the rainbow. was them all along.
Awh… Who doesn’t love a happy ending? Especially when that ending is a rainbow? A Rainbow Falls, that is! No, no… this isn’t the Māui fights Mo’o Kuna Rainbow Falls, this is a lovely little State Park situated between Pe Ell and Chehalis, and will make a great place to end the 2024 camping season.
Lakes? Check. Swimming? Double check!
If you joined us for the Lost Lake run a couple of years ago, you know exactly where this is. If you missed it, you missed one of the best places I’ve ever been camping. Word must have gotten out this year because the Lost Lake group site was gone daddy, gone. Like vapor baby! But fret not young motorcycle traveler, we’re just down the road at the Bonaparte Lake Campground. Now, I know what you’re thinking, “Central Washington in the middle of August? How ever will I sleep in such heat? I will melt, I tell you… Just MELT!!!” Well, don’t pack the fainting couch just yet, you will be sawing logs at a cool 3556 ft. Well above blazing furnace of the township of Tonasket. Pack your Speedos, there will be swimming.
You got class? Team Oregon does!
This campout we will be heading to Bruceport WA. Camp next to the sea and enjoy breathtaking vistas that may or may not be shrouded in a bone chilling fog. Pack your woolens and your shorts, because it may be hot, or it may not. This also puts us in line with the Team Oregon classes in Astoria OR this year. if you need to sign up for the classes, do so here.
We're heading out to the Wynoochee Dam as a first in a series of campouts I like to call the "Wilds of South-Western Washington". The Wynoochee Dam and lake are located at the southern end of the Olympic National Forest (not to be confused with the Olympic National Park) The riding in the area is great though food options are limited. This may be a support vehicle run. More details as we get closer to the campout.
Victoria Day Campout - That's right folks, it's time once again for Pine Flats fun and frivolity that is the Victoria Day Weekend (that somehow has become a week long event)! We have the campgrounds starting on Wednesday and we don't give 'em back until Monday. You know where it is, same place as last year. More details as we get closer to the campout.
The April meeting will be hosted by Kas C & Chris M in their lovely Edwardian mansion located in Vancouver, WA.
The March meeting will be hosted by Jeremy W in his palatial baroque estate located in scenic Kent, WA.

The November meeting will be held Saturday the 18th at the lovely home of Chris L and Richard A. They will be preparing a wonderful thanksgiving spread of turkey and all the fixings. Chris and Richard will be opening their home to overnight guests, but they would prefer a heads up if you are planning on staying the night. They would like to account for the number of guests. At this point, they don't need any assistance with meal prep, but it's always good to help out where you can.
The October Club Meeting will be on the 21st. We’re heading to the wilds of Burien WA for our Monthly Meeting. There we will partake in the pleasures and culinary wonders crafted in Dennis H’s kitchen where he will be preparing an Octoberfest dinner. Wear your lederhosen, Proust!
It’s time to head on up the North Cascades Highway toward Concrete, WA for the last camping run of the year. Registration opens September 1st.
What’s this? Two lake runs in a row?
The Paul Lake Run will be held in Paul Lake Provincial Park outside of Kamloops BC. This will be a bit of a stretch for the Oregon crowd, but I’m sure WA brothers will open their homes if needed. Registration opens August 1st.
The Bull Prairie Lake Run will be our stretch run for the riding season. It’s located in the Umatilla National Forest close to Heppner, OR and Spray, OR. The elevation is around 4200 feet so the nights should be cool. There’s plenty of riding around this area and it will be well worth the effort to attend. Registration opens July 1st.
The Willamette Mission Run will be at the Willamette Mission State Park in Gervais, OR. This is the run that’s close to Portland for a reason. Sunday is the Portland Pride Parade and some members may attend. Registration opens June 1st.
BRMC has been hosting the kickoff to riding season with The Victoria Day Campout for decades. This year, as we have for many years past, the celebration will be held at the US Forest Service Pine Flats Campground near Ardenvoir, Washington. This is a favorite site of ours & a wonderful base-camp for day rides throughout the central Washington area. Registration opens May 1st.
The April Club Meeting will be held on Saturday the 15th. Hosted by Kas C. and Chris M. in their Vancouver, WA home. Kas and Chris will serve Tamale Pie Casserole (with ground beef), condiments (sour cream, salsa, shredded cheese), southwest ranch salad with avocado and tomatoes and red onion, chips and salsa, and mixed nuts. Dessert will be a strawberry shortcake dump cake with whipped cream.
Kas and Chris don't require any additional help in setup or preparation for the evening.
The time line is as usual, Arrive at 4, meeting at 5, dinner at 6. You are welcome to hang out for a while and chat but it would be great if things could wrap up around 8-9pm.
Parking n the neighborhood can be a bit tight and it is recommended you carpool or ride your motorcycles. The overnighting at Kas and Chris's house will not be an option as the sleeping accommodations have been filled. However, there's a La Quinta on highway 99, some better hotel options in Downtown Vancouver, and further up I-5 in Salmon Creek (about 10-15 minutes away either direction).
Cost for the evening is $20 per person. Registration opens Saturday, April 1st and closes Wednesday the 12th.
Hope to see you all there!
The March Club Meeting will be held on the 18th. It will be hosted by Jeff B in Portland, OR. We will open registration on March 1st.
The 2023 Annual Banquet will take place at the Courtyard Marriott on Anchor Way in Portland, OR. This is always a great event where everyone gets together and we look back over the past year and forward to the upcoming riding season. Registration opens February 1st.
